Abstract

1,240,492. Bobbin changing mechanism. HEBERLEIN & CO. A.G. 6 Aug., 1968 [11 Aug., 1967], No. 37492/68. Heading D1J. A pair of spaced apart frames 11, 12 carry between them a plurality of bobbins 15, 16, 55. The frames 11, 12 are braced by a flanged body 10 keyed to a shaft 9-rotatable in a stirrup-shaped member 1 swingable about a shaft 3. As shown in Fig. 2 the working bobbin 55 is driven by a driving roller 18 and when the bobbin is full the operator pulls on the handle 32 to cause the frames 11, 12 to rotate about the axis 9 in a manner causing the next empty bobbin 16 to roll along a support device 17 terminating in the vicinity of the upper peripheral point 56 of the bobbin driving roller 18. The support device 17 ensures that when the operator has pulled the handle 32 sufficiently to cause the next empty bobbin 16 to pass vertically underneath the shaft 9 there will be no tendancy for the bobbin 16 to reverse back to its waiting position illustrated in Fig. 2. The handle 32 is used to rotate a control hub 33 carrying a spring biassed plunger 35 co-operating with a toothed control member 36. The control member 36 is coupled to the shaft 9 via outer clutch discs 47 associated with the stirrup 1 and inner clutch discs 48 associated with the shaft 9 to provide a damping and sliding coupling between the control member 36 and the shaft 9. The pressure exerted by the discs 47 and 48 is adjustable by means of an adjusting ring . threaded in the hub 33. The bobbins are mounted on rotatable receiving plates 13, 14 carried by the support frames 11, 12. Plate 13 is rotatably mounted in bearings carried in a recess in an axially movable spring box 26, a shift lever 30 movably mounted in a slotted guide in the housing 28 of the spring box serving to control axial movement of the spring box and its associated receiving plate.
