Abstract

1,232,571. Rear-illuminated signs. SALENDINE PLASTICS (HUDDERSFIELD) Ltd. 28 May, 1968 [28 Feb., 1967], No. 9326/67. Heading G5C. A composite panel 12 of a rear-illuminated sign comprises a coloured glass or plastics sheet 26, which appears transparent when viewed by transmitted light but dark by reflected light, and an initially transparent diffusing sheet 28 formed of synthetic resin and embossed with a pattern. The sign may comprise a plurality of selectively illuminable sections, Fig. 1 (not shown), and may include a colour filter (32) and a legend-bearing stencil (30), Fig. 3 (not shown). Alternatively, a sign may be applied either to the rear of sheet 26 or the front of sheet 28.
