Abstract
1,110,624. Display apparatus. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 16 Dec., 1966 [1 Feb., 1966], No. 4424/66. Heading G5C. A display device has a transparent or translucent panel 1 bearing readily changeable information, e.g. letters, numerals or diagrams, and is illuminated from behind by selectively operable lamps 77 accommodated in housings. The information may be formed from an adhesive plastics material or may be written on the panel using a readily erasable ink. Selected areas may be illuminated by coloured light. The lamps are mounted in battens carried by a frame 51 positioned within a box 39 of which the panel is the front face and each lamp lights a different area of the panel. The front of the panel, which comprises a glass plate covered by a sheet of translucent self-adhesive P.V.C., is protected by a transparent screen 71.
