Abstract
122,842. Power Specialty Co., (Assignees of Foster, E. H.). Feb. 17, 1916, [Convention date]. U-tube superheaters.-A superheater is so arranged in the combustion-chamber of an externally fired return-tube boiler in the direct path of the gases that it does not obstruct the openings of the return tubes, and is so supported that the elements may expand and contract and move with or with respect to the flue covers at the top of the chamber. Headers I carrying a number of inverted U-tubes J are suspended by inlet and outlet tubes F passing through sliding flue covers L. The covers may be fixed, the cast iron rings shown fitted on the tubes being then dispensed with to allow the inlet and outlet tubes to move freely with respect to the covers.
