Abstract

1,223,085. Controlling gas burners. SAUNIER DUVAL. 4 June, 1969 [6 June, 1968], No. 28360/69. Heading F4T. A manually opened gas valve 1 is retained in its open position by an electromagnet 6 having. two windings 10, 12, winding 10 being connected to a thermocouple 11 in a pilot flame, and winding 12 being excited for a pre-determined time after mounting closure of a switch 17, 18. Pressing button 7 to open the valve supplies.an increased current to a thermistor 15 which becomes hot developing a high resistance, causing an increased current to flow through a resistor 16 and winding 12. As thermistor 15 cools, the current in winding 12 decreases until the valve is released, unless ignition has occurred exciting winding 10. A capacitor may be used in place of thermistor 15.
