Abstract

1,221,027. Controlling burners. SAUNTER DUVAL. 11 March, 1969 [12 March, 1968], No. 12878/69. Heading F4T. A valve 2 in the gas supply to a burner 1 is held open in known manner by an electromagnet winding 11 connected to a thermocouple 12 heated by a pilot light 7, a second winding 15 on the electromagnet being connected so that a current therein creates an opposing flux to release the armature 13 and cut off the supply of gas. A thermistor 16 with a positive temperature coefficient biases a transistor 18 to pass a current to the second winding 15 and cut off the gas when the outlet of a water heater overheats. A valve 9 controlling gas supply to the main burner is operated by a time-switch.
