Sliding-jaw wrenches; wrench handles. - In sliding - jaw wrenches of the kind in which the jaws are carried by a pair of relatively slidable members and the handle is pivoted to one of the members and is adapted when turned, to engage the, other and move the jaws towards each other, the jaws being also adjustable by screw means to vary the normal opening of the jaws, the member carrying the movable jaw comprises two sleeves surrounding the shank of the fixed jaw and screw-threaded together for adjustment, and the handle is provided with an enlargement or extensions adapted when the handle is turned in either direction to engage the end of one of the sleeves and thereby move the jaws towards each other. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the sliding jaw d is operated by a handle f pivoted to the end of the shank b of the fixed jaw a, projections or an annular enlargement f<1> of the handle being adapted, when the handle is turned in either direction, to engage the end of a sleeve i screwed upon the sleeve c of the jaw d. By turning the sleeve i, the normal opening of the jaws may be varied. In a modification, the sleeve c is internally threaded to engage external threads on the sleeve i, and the handle f is connected to the shank b by a ball joint, and is in two parts screwed together to permit the assemblage of the parts.
