Abstract
1,214,635. Lampholders. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. 20 June, 1968 [28 June, 1967], No. 29873/67. Heading H2E. A lampholder for a capless lamp has a body 1 of rectangular transverse cross-section, e.g. of a synthetic plastics material, formed with a cavity 2, flange 3, and walls 4, 5 parallel to the longer sides of the body. A pair of contacts disposed in the cavity 2 are each formed with resilient fingers 14, 15 and parallel arms 6, 7 connected by a bridging portion 8 carrying a resilient tab 9 adapted to snap under an abutment 9a in the cavity. Each finger 14, 15 is bent to form a shoulder 16, 17 to engage the edges of an aperture b in a panel a having printed circuitry c on one face and so retain the lampholder in the aperture with flange 3 abutting the panel. The parallel arms 7, 6 of each contact are formed respectively with axially extending flanges 10 adapted to make connection with contacts disposed on the base of a lamp and projections 11 which locate in recesses in the lamp base to retain the lamp in the holder. The portions 10, 11 on one contact are in facing relation with portions 11, 10 on the other contact. In another embodiment, connecting lugs (18, 19, Figs. 3, 4, not shown) are dependant from the bridging portion 8 and the supporting panel is of insulating material. In a further embodiment (Figs. 5, 6, not shown) one of the contacts is as shown in Fig. 1, its fingers 14, 15 making an earth return connection to a metal support panel and retaining the lampholder thereon, whilst the other contact has a connecting lug but no extending fingers 14, 15.
