Abstract

1,209,810. Breaking-off threads while doffing. ZINSER TEXTILMASCHINEN G.m.b.H. 28 Nov., 1968 [1 Dec., 1967], No. 56530/68. Heading DID. During doffing of a fully wound tube 6 from a spindle which has an underwinding area 1 below the base of the tube, the thread leading from the tube to the area 1, is broken off by preventing displacement of the thread in the peripheral direction during the axial doffing at least until the break-off has been achieved. The thread is held against displacement by a device 10 mounted for axial displacement on the spindle and consisting of a tubular seating on which the tube sits and a peripherally toothed collar 11. During doffing the device 10 moves along the spindle with the tube until a stop colllar 14 on the spindle is reached. A further spindle collar 2 limits the lowermost position of the device. The seating 13 may have a resilient bush or may be slit and slightly larger than the inner diameter of the tube for friction holding of the tube on the seating. The device 10 may have a groove 51, Fig. 9, into which the tube base fits, the collar 50 overlapping the edge of the spindle collar 2" and having teeth 55.
