Abstract

1,160,167. Roving frame. N. SCHLUMBERGER & CIE. 10 April, 1967 [26 April, 1966], No. 16261/67. Heading DID. In a roving frame a sleeve or collar 3 is secured to the flyer 1, 18 and rotatably mounted in vertically spaced bearing 5, 6, the means for rotating and traversing the bobbin passing through the bearings. As shown a tube 15 is fixed with the flyer and encloses a tube 14 carying a cap 25 on which the bobbin core can be mounted. Tube 14 is rotated within tube 15 by a spindle 13 having a driving slot engaging a key 20 in tube 14. Tube 14 is mounted on a traversing rail 12 by a bearing 14 to be traversed. The rail carries a number of other tubes and is traversed by a nut on a rotating lead screw. The collar 3 has a gear 8 at its lower end which is driven to rotate the flyer. Bearing 5 is of the angular contact type and its outer race is urged away from the outer race of bearing 6 by a spring 7, a resilient ring 23 being interposed.
