Abstract

1,207,034. Centrifugal separators. POLYSIUS G.m.b.H. 26 Nov., 1968, No. 56143/68. Heading B2P. An installation for cleaning dust-laden exhaust gases from cupola furnaces comprises a substantially vertical, downwardly widening inlet pipe 2 for receiving the gases to be cleaned at its upper end and provided at its lower end with guide elements 4 for inducing a rotary spinning motion to the gases. The lower end of the pipe 2 is spaced from and surrounded by a preseparator casing 5 which extends downwardly to form an outlet 9 for coarse dust particles. A member of cyclones 11 are arranged in parallel between the casing 5 and an external casing 1 and are mounted between lower and upper annular walls 6, 17, the cyclones receiving substantially equal amounts of precleaned gases from the preseparator. The wall 6 defines with the casings 1, 5 a fine dust collecting hopper 7 and the wall 17 is connected by a conical wall 18 to the inlet pipe 2 to form therewith and with the casing 1 a clean gas chamber 10 having an outlet 19 for clean gases.
