Abstract

1,204,515. Breaking up bales. MASCHINENFABRIK FRIEDRICH HAAS G.m.b.H. 12 Sept., 1967 [17 Sept., 1966], No. 41557/67. Heading DIN. Blocks of fibrous material 28, 29 conveyed on a feeder belt 3 to a following processing machine (not shown) are broken up by an overhead spiked belt 13 rubbing thereagainst. The belt 13 is pivotally mounted about axle of roller 12 and the belt is pushed upwardly from a lowermost position 13a to an uppermost position 13 as the block moves nearer to a delivery conveyor 22. A hydraulic transmission element is provided between the belts 3 and 13 consists of a pipe 19 ending in cylinders 19a and 19b with pistons 19c and 19d which act on lever arms 18 or 19e. An eccentric 32 is mounted on the end roller 21 of belt 22 and oscillates a lever 33 connected by a free wheel device to roller 6 so that the belt 3 moves stepwise to the right. As the block pivots belt 13 upwards arm 18 depresses 19c causing 19d to be lifted and move arms 19e and 33 clockwise. Thus the eccentric 32 oscillates arm 33 through a smaller angle and the belt 6 is progressed through smaller steps. An adjustably positioned stripper belt 24 is provided at the forward end of belt 22 to maintain a certain layer thickness, a further saw toothed stripper 27 stripping the belt 22 of the layer. The belt 13 may be driven independently of belt 3 and is preferably adjustable in height.
