Abstract

1,203,431. Releasable fastenings. W. & F. BARRETT Ltd. 4 April, 1968 [6 April, 1967], No. 15940/67. Addition to 1,131,911. Heading E2A. The invention comprises an improvement or modification of the linkage claimed in claim 1 of Specification 1,131,911 wherein the linkage comprises two mutually articulated members 1, 2 and a retaining device pivoted to one said member 2 for limited movement between the release position and the locking position wherein a slot or guide way on said device is engaged by the end portion 7 of the other member 1 when it has moved in a plane perpendicular to the plane containing the pivotal axis of the retaining device and has brought the retaining device into the locking position, spring means being provided for urging the retaining device in to the locking position to prevent the accidental disengagement of the retaining device when in the locking position, the improvement or modification consisting in providing the retaining device with a flange 20 to bear upon the articulated member 2 said flange being movable between a position wherein it is parallel to the articulated member 2 and a position where only one end bears on the articulated member. Pressing on the flange moves the retaining device into the release position where it is parallel to the member 2, allowing the end portion 7 to move out of engagement with the slot or guide way. Moving the two members 1, 2 so that they are parallel to each other causes them to become automatically locked in the extended position.
