Abstract

1,201,858. Pipe fittings. H. FREY. 15 Aug., 1968 [20 Feb., 1968], No. 39094/68. Heading F2G. An electrically insulating pipe fitting comprises two screw threaded components 1, 2 having respectively cylindrical or tapered parts 5, 15 fitting one within the other and a synthetic plastics cup-shaped component 3 disposed between the parts 5, 15, the cylindrical or tapered parts and the component 3 being joined by a push fit. The sealing surfaces 8, 13 may he plain or provided with concentric grooves 12, and the parts 5, 15 may be formed with axial and/or radial grooves to increase torque resistance of the fitting. To further resist relative twisting between the parts of the fitting, a radial shear pin 4 of plastics material, which may be reinforced by a steel core, is used; alternatively, a tangentially disposed pin is used.
