Abstract

1,198,699. Headlamps. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 4 Oct., 1967 [7 Oct., 1966], No. 45163/67. Heading F4R. A vehicle headlamp producing an asymmetric beam comprises a tungsten-halogen lamp 2 having a cylindrical bulb and a filament 3 extending transversely to the axis of the cylinder and parallel to the axis of the deflector 1 and in front of the focal point F, and a screening hood 5 surrounding the bulb and located below the filament, the hood having a chamfered rim and the longitudinal axis of the bulb and the hood being inclined at between 7.5 and 15 degrees to the vertical. Fig. 3 shows a vertical section through the hood and the bulb in a plane at right-angles to the section of Fig. 1; in this the part 7<SP>1</SP> of the rim is chamfered so that it lies in a horizontal plane and the part 6<SP>1</SP> is chamfered so that it defines a plane sloping downwardly at 15 degrees from the axis of the reflector 1.
