1,079,954. Vehicle headlamps. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Aug. 4, 1964 [July 20, 1963], No. 30580/64. Heading F4R. A vehicle headlamp has a lens at least a generally planar portion of which is rearwardly and upwardly inclined at an angle of between 5 and 20 degrees to a plane perpendicular to the optical axis and has a plurality of parallel grooves lying in vertical planes parallel to the optical axis so that a beam of light passing through the planar portion is bent downwardly and illuminates an area of roadway the ends of which are curved towards the vehicle.
