Abstract

1,196,985. Pneumatic brakes; piston packing. ERNST HEINKEL A.G. 23 Feb., 1968 [9 March, 1967], No. 8863/68. Headings F2F and F2T. In the cylinder 11 of a pneumatic servomotor, the bead 51 of a diaphragm 52 is sealingly secured between the edge of the cover plate 2, the facing edge region of the cylinder 11 and a ring 6 fixed within the cylinder, the bead having the same diameter as the cylinder portion on which the diaphragm rolls and unrolls in use, and the said edge region of the cylinder having a diameter which is no greater than this portion. The ring 6 may be secured to the cover-plate 2, or by a seam weld (7, Fig. 3, not shown) to the cylinder 11. The cylinder and plate are secured by tags (12, Fig. 2, not shown) which are spaced around the circumference of the cylinder end, and which locate in corresponding recesses in the plate 2 and are then bent over.
