Abstract
1,194,411. Securing pulleys &c. on shafts. D. A. JEFFS. 30 Jan., 1968 [14 Feb., 1967], No. 6968/67. Heading F2U. A pulley &c. hub 29 is secured on a shaft 31 by a bush 15 provided with a compression slot 17 and the outer surface of which is formed with a series of longitudinal semi-circular grooves 19 for the reception of securing pins 23 engaging registering feather key slots 33 in the hub portion 29. As shown the grooves 19 and pins 23 are parallel, the pins having flats (24) engaging the tapered bases of the slots 33, Fig. 21 (not shown), but this arrangement may be reversed with tapered grooves 19 and pins 23, the slots 33 being of uniform depth, Figs. 1-7 (not shown). The pins 23 are held in position by domed nuts, and in an arrangement for securing the hub on the end of the shaft the nuts are retained in an end plate (39) by a circlip (41), Fig. 8 (not shown).
