Abstract

[Also in Division B7] A guide assembly for a haulage cable connected by a towing arm to a vehicle movable along a rail 3 comprises a pair of pulleys 6, 7 defining a cable guiding aperture 20 and displaceable relative to one another against a restoring spring 16 by a towing arm passing therebetween, the pulleys 6, 7 and a carrier bracket 13a therefor being collectively mounted on a support member 5 for arcuate movement transverse to the cable length about the point B of contact of the pulley flanges 6a, 7a. The axles 8-9 of the pulleys are slidable in slots 10, 11 in the bracket 13a to permit displacement of the pulleys once a spring biased locking arm 17 pivotally mounted on the axle 8, has been disengaged from a locking element 18 on the axle 9, by contact with the towing arm. Securing bolts 14 on the bracket 13a are slidable in an arcuate slot 15 in the support member 5, the point B of contact of the towing arm with the pulley flanges 6a, 7a always remaining in the same position relative to the member 5 for any arcuate adjustment of the pulleys thereon.
