[Also in Division E2] A fastener for an explosion-proof housing having a container portion 9 and a quick opening cover 2 comprises levers 1 rotatable in a plane substantially parallel to the plane of the cover in its closed position, the levers having a groove so that when the levers are rotated to fastening position the groove is engageable with aligned flanges 7, 8 on the cover and container portion. The levers on the cover are rotated by an external handle on the cover operating a cam 14 in contact with plates 15 on a ring 13 to rotate the ring which has projecting rollers 11 which abut a projecting enlarged portion of the levers and move them to fastening position. If the container portion and cover have a rectangular cross-section, the cam reciprocates a rod pivotally linked to the pivoted levers which lie on both sides of the rod. In a modification, the levers are pivoted to the container portion.
