Abstract

1,186,079. Sliding bolts. AVEN STAINLESS STEEL PRODUCTS Ltd. 21 June. 1968 [1 July, 1967], No. 30451/67. Heading E2A. A lever action sliding bolt fastening comprises an actuating lever 18 in the form of a bail the two sides 20 of which taper towards the connecting portion on one side of the pivot 17 and are formed with arcuate end portions 19 engageable in a pair of notches formed in the opposite lateral edges of a slider strip 7, the strip 7 engaging in slots in the ends of a mounting which is secured to the rear face of a plate 1 formed with a rectangular opening, whereby a recess 13 is formed in which the lever lies in either of two end positions corresponding to projected end retracted positions of a bolt head 6 secured to the strip 7, the lever being swung through 180 degrees between these two positions by the insertion of a finger into the recess and around the connecting portion of the bail. A leaf spring 23 secured to the strip 7 engages the rear edges of the end portions 19 to urge the lever into its end positions.
