Abstract
1,182,052. Filing cabinets. T. FOXALL & SONS Ltd. 4 April, 1967 [4 Jan., 1966], No. 397/66. Heading B6E. A filing cabinet 12 for filing documents, e.g. in a horizontal position, comprises pockets 18 formed between zig-zag folded manilla or like material arranged so that the pockets are openable on one side for access and adjacent pockets have oppositely directed openable side for access from the other side of the cabinet. Each pocket 18 is attached to three filing bars 16 as shown in Fig. 3 and each bar extends into vertical channels (17, Fig. 4) or 117, Fig. 6. The bars may be of rigid polyvinyl chloride or metal covered at the part which extends into the vertical channels by an encircling plastic sleeve to provide a free, smooth and quiet vertical running of the bars within the channels. The filing bars 16 may be separated into groups 25 by means of a clip 26 filled into the guide channels. In the embodiment employing metal bars 16 they may be separated by press-in pegs (35) which extend through perforations in the channels. The cabinet 12 may be rotatable about a vertical axis on a stand so that ready access may be made to either side and the top may be formed as a tray for the receipt of documents for filing. Indexing.-The channels 16 may have presson transparent plastic channels (39) which entrap a slip of paper (43) or a pivotal index strip holder (51) comprising a rectangular plate with turned back flanges (52, 53, 54, 55) may be provided on one or both sides of the cabinet.
