Abstract

1,181,388. Valve stem seals. GOETZEWERKE FRIEDRICH GOETZE A.G. 8 May, 1967 [13 May, 1966], No. 21244/67. Heading F2B. In a valve stem seal comprising a rubber sleeve 1 having a sealing lip 3 and a mounting part 5 to be press-fitted over the valve guide bush 2, the part 5 is reinforced by a surrounding metal ring 6 which is bent radially inwardly between the lip 3 and the part 5 to form a shoulder 7 that may be used during assembly as an abutment for the claw 10 of a mounting tool 9. A constriction 8 is formed between the lip 3 and the part 5 and the lip is urged inwardly by a spring 4. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,096,429.
