Abstract

1,178,414. Expansion joints. KOLSCHFOLZER-WERKE A.G. 20 April, 1967, No. 18154/67. Heading F2G. [Also in Division F4] A blast pipe construction for a blast furnace comprises tapering pipe sections 1 each extending from the bustle pipe 5 into a further pipe section 2, said pipe sections being joined by an expansion bellows 4 and section 2 being connected by a bend 3 with the nozzle 9 of a tuyere. The expansion bellows 4 comprises corrugated sections 24, 25 separated by a cylindrical section 26. It is connected by nuts and bolts as shown to flanges on pipes 1 and 2. Pipe 2 is held in sealing relationship with the bend 3 by four wedge locks 14 and the arms of the bend are inclined at about 130 degrees. Nozzle 9 is pressed against the blast furnace by a device 15 acting on the bend and secured by locks 19, 20.
