Abstract
1,176,073. Seals. B. T. F. EKMAN. 28 April, 1967 [29 April, 1966], No. 19759/67. Heading F2B. A seal for a valve spindle 1 movable in a guide 2 comprises two or more sealing rings 11, 12, each of which, under the influence of fluid pressure on one side thereof having its opposite side adjacent the inner edge sealingly pressed against a sealing surface on the spindle and adjacent the outer edge against a sealing surface providing a seal relative to the guide. As shown, the sealing surfaces on the spindle and guide are conical but they may be flat or provided by the side face of the opposite ring. The rings may be of rubber and protected by a P.T.F.E. washer (35), Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), provided between the lower ring and the guide. When removal of the rings becomes necessary, a P.T.F.E. washer (36) is clamped between a flange (33) on the spindle and the guide.
