Abstract

1,175,812. Drafting rollers. HAMEL PROJEKTIERUNGS-UND VERWALTUNGS A.G. 27 May, 1968 [28 June, 1967], No. 25165/68. Heading D1D. A pair of drafting rollers 4, 7 is mounted on the cross link 5 of a quadrilateral link system 5, 8, 9 so that the distance between it and a fixed pair 1, 2 may be adjusted. The link 8 may, at its lower end, be fast on a rod the rotation of which thus effects the adjustment of the roller pair separation. The links of a number of heads may be fast on the same rod so that simultaneous adjustment of them is possible. The links 8, 9 may be of equal length and parallel, as shown, or they may be of unequal length so that at all positions of the movable pair the plane joining the two nips is tangential to the rollers at both nips. The apparatus is said to be suitable for feeding short lengths of a yarn 10 to be twisted into carrier yarns 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, the rollers 4, 7 being intermittently driven to break off the required lengths of yarn 10.
