Abstract

1358810 Fibre feed in open end spindles SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 30 May 1972 [29 May 1971] 25314/72 Heading DID In an open-end spinning machine fibre entering the spinning chamber 2 first makes contact with a surface 710 having a velocity relative to that of the chamber 2. This surface may rotate oppositely to the chamber 2 or codirectionally therewith but at a different speed. The surface 710 is spaced from the surface 24 of the chamber 2 by a distance less than the staple length of the fibre so that individual fibres bridging the gap are stretched and aligned. Yarn is withdrawn from the chamber either through the chamber shaft 21 which may contain a stationary guide tube 6, Fig. 5, or through the shaft 700 of the fibre contacting surface which has a false twisting effect or which may contain a stationary tube, Fig. 1 (not shown).
