Abstract
1,173,440. Making steel sheets; rolling; altering physical structure. NIPPON KOKAN K.K. 22 Dec., 1966 [22 Dec., 1965], No. 57591/66. Headings B3A, B3M and B3V. Steel sheets are cold-rolled in two stages by utilizing a chart, Fig. 4, showing the desired grain size and strain ratio values which are obtained by the combination of a selected primary and secondary reduction rate, the sheets being annealed prior to and subsequent to the secondary reduction. A low carbon rimmed steel having ultra deep drawing properties, i.e. a high strain ratio r, is formed by a 60% primary and secondary reduction whilst a steel having good shapability is formed by a 75% primary and a 35% secondary reduction, the steel in both cases being annealed prior to and subsequent to the secondary reduction at 700‹ C. for 8 hrs. and at 730‹ C. for 10 hrs. in a decarburizing atmosphere, respectively. A steel having high rigidity is produced by a primary reduction of at least 40% and a secondary reduction of at least 70%, the steel being annealed in a non-decarburizing atmosphere.
