Abstract
1325852 Making wire; drawing; altering physical structure FAGERSTA AB 14 Jan 1971 [2 Feb 1970 11 Feb 1970] 1783/71 Headings B3A B3P and B3V [Also in Division C7] A high strength steel wire having a maximum diameter of 1 mm is made by drawing through a plurality of drawing cycles, a killed, low alloy, rolled steel containing 0À01-0À06% C, 0À25-6% Mn, 0À30% max. Nb, 0À03% max. N, and 1% max. Si or at least 0À01% of Al, Zr or Ti; and annealing the wire at 400-650 C. before every drawing cycle except the first. The steel may also contain 0À2% max. Al, 0À5% max. Zr, 0À3% max. V and 0À5% max. Ti. The wire may be annealed in a protective gas atmosphere. In an example, a rolled wire of 5À6 mm. diameter is drawn to 0À15 mm. with four intermediate anneals.
