Abstract

1,170,867. Improvements relating to urinals. SIGNALLING ELECTRONICS (PTY.) Ltd. 5 March, 1968 [11 March, 1967], No. 10686/68. Heading A4N. A urinal 1 in Fig. 1 having a liquid trap 2 forming a part of outlet therefrom, is provided with a pair of shaped electrodes 6 and 8 located to be in contact with liquid in the said trap, and connected to the electrodes is an electric circuit responsive to the conductivity of the liquid in the trap to operate a flushing mechanism and when the said conductivity exceeds a predetermined value. The electric circuit may comprise (a) trigger circuit and, (b) switching circuit; wherein 'a' includes electrodes 6, 8, silicon controlled rectifier 10, and potentiometer 12; and 'b' includes a coil of solenoid operated valve 9 connected through a silicon controlled rectifier 10 to a low voltage AC supply 11.
