Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the insignificant discharge of a battery, by turning on a backup switch to invalidate backup when no AC power source is supplied to a semiconductor memory. CONSTITUTION:When a backup switch 15 is turned on with no supply of an AC power source, the output of a rectifying circuit 11 is set at zero. As a result, a thyristor 16 is turned off to cause no flow of discharged current from a battery 13. When the AC power supply is applied under such conditions, the thyristor 16 is turned on. However, no discharged current of the battery 13 flows since the voltage of the battery 13 is set at a low level. If the AC power source is broken at this moment, the output of the circuit 11 is reduced to flow the current supplied from the battery 13 to an output voltage control circuit 12 via the thyristor 16. As a result, the storage contents of a memory 17 are held. In such way, the insignificant discharge of a battery can be eliminated.
