Abstract

1,164,336. Extruding pellets. BUHLER GEBR. 17 March, 1967 [23 March, 1966], No. 12555/67. Heading B5A. In an extrusion press for producing pellets, material is extruded radially outwardly through orifices 2 in an annular die member 1 by means of a pair of pressing rollers 25 which are rotatable on spindles 6 eccentrically mounted at respective stub axles 4, 7 between rigidly bolted together bridge members 10 and 3, whereby the spacing of each roller 25 from the die 1 is individually adjustable upon rotational adjustment of each spindle 6, via a hexagonal stub axle head 24, which is then clamped in position by means of the engagement of circular plates 40, 41, which are non-rotatably mounted on the stub axle 7 on either side of member 10, at conical peripheral surfaces 42 thereof between clamping members 43, 44 which are secured by a bolt 45. The conical engagement between plates 40, 41 and members 43, 44 may represent a jamming angle. In alternative embodiments, the plates (41) (Fig. 4, not shown) may be provided with a conical clamping edge (42) around part only of the periphery, and only one clamping member (44) (Fig. 5, not shown) may be provided which is bolted directly to the bridge member (10). Either one or both of the die or roller carriers may rotate.
