[Also in Divisions A3 and A5] A heat treatment cap comprises two flexible non-porous membranes lying in face-to-face relationship and sealed to one another to provide an inner pocket surrounded by an outer pocket, the inner pocket having an opening and associated closure member and the outer pocket containing an elastic binding for holding the cap on the head of the user. To use the cap, in the setting of hair, the hair is first set with rollers, hot water is poured into the inner pocket of the cap by way of the opening, which is then closed by the closure assembly, and the cap is placed on the head for 6-10 minutes. As illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3, cap 10 comprises two circular membranes (11) and 12 having the same diameter and made from a non-porous waterproof plastics material, e.g. P.V.C., one membrane being formed centrally with an opening 13 which is provided with associated closure assembly 20. The membranes are heat-sealed to one another along a circular outer seal line 23 formed at the periphery of the membranes and along a circular inner seal line 23<SP>1</SP> formed a short distance inwardly of the periphery of the membranes. The inner seal line defines an inner pocket 25 which is divided into interconnecting compartments (27) by long seal lines (26) and alternating short seal lines (26<SP>1</SP>), the long and short seal lines being formed between the membranes; the two circular seal lines define between them an outer pocket 24 in which is formed between the membranes a ring of circumferentially spaced spot welds 31 around which passes an elastic cord binding 22 which gathers the marginal portion of the cap formed by the outer pocket.
