Abstract
1,157,390. Transformers. S. NAKAZAWA, and T. NAKAZAWA. 31 Oct., 1967 [26 Dec., 1966], No. 42517/67. Heading H1T. The upper surface 8 of an expansible cell 4 in the oil-conservator for an oil-filled transformer is made buoyant by the use of, e.g., a foam plastics portion 17 or a network of spacers and air-pockets, and air-filled tubes 19 secured by adhesive tapes 20 around the upper peripheral edge of the cell, whereby the upper surface of the cell is maintained substantially at the same level as that of oil 13 between cell 4 and the conservator casing 3 during operation of the cell, the arrangement being such that the sidewalls of the cell do not make appreciable contact with the inner surface of the casing 3. The upper surface of the cell is covered with a sheet 18 of material, e.g. synthetic rubber or resin, which is impermeable to water, oil or air, the side walls and bottom of the cell being made of the same material. The air-filled tubes 19 are of thin vinyl or metal. An undulated vinyl plate may be placed over the covering sheet 18 to collect water deposited from the air-space S and to direct the water to a well 15 from which it may be drained.
