Abstract

1,157,236. Chain couplings. E. BRAUN, G. BRAUN and H. HALBACH [trading as HALBACH & BRAUN]. 4 Jan., 1968 [3 March, 1967], No. 615/68. Heading F2Q. A coupling for an oval link conveyer chain comprises identical halves 3, 4 adapted to be connected together by separate chain links or rings 10, 11 secured over lugs 9 projecting from opposite sides of the halves, each half having a U-shaped shackle 6 by which an end link 1 or 2 of the chain is clamped over a nose 5 of the half. Each shackle 6 has screw-threaded legs 7 on which are engaged nuts 8. Each link 10 or 11 is pivoted to one half 3 or 4 by a shackle 13 and is securable on a lug 9 of the other half by a cotter pin 12. The lugs 9 are of tapered cross-section (Fig. 5, not shown) to enable the chain to change direction.
