Abstract
115,518. Fibre Corporation, and Michot, G. June 1, 1917. Breaking and scutching apparatus; grip chain and like arrangements for feeding, holding, and conveying fibrous materials.-In an apparatus of the kind described in Specification 108,716, the material is treated in succession by four scutching-heads arranged in pairs one above the other. The scutching-heads a - - a<3>, which operate upon the bundles of materials as they are carried round by the intermittingly moving belts d, d<1>, are carried by brackets b, b<3> on a framework c, c<1>, c<3>. The horn plates l - - l<3> surrounding the small pulleys p - - p<3> carry also guidepulleys h - - h<3> for the feeding-belts. The bundles of material as they move vertically between the scutching-heads a and a<1>, and a2 and a<3> are supported by U-shaped projections e<1> carried by a baud e moving in unison with the belts d, d'. The bundles are drawn through the belts between the heads a<1>, a<2> to expose the unscutched portion.
