Abstract

1,146,596. Modifying metallic surfaces; platinum alloys. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 13, 1966 [July 29, 1965], No.32481/65. Headings C7A and C7U. A platinum or platinum alloy heating element has a surface of oxidized cobalt formed either by coating with cobalt or by using an alloy containing 5 to 15% of cobalt and then heating in air or oxygen. The alloy may be 95 to 60% Pt - 5 to 40% Rh or 95 to 80% Pt with 5 to 20% Ir, by weight, with the initial inclusion of 5 to 15% Co of the weight of the Pt and Rh or Pt and Ir.
