Abstract
1,143,587. Polarizing apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 28, 1966 [March 31, 1965], No. 13550/66. Heading G2J. A deviation prism, particularly for use in a multi-stage digital light deviation system, comprises two prisms 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>11</SP>, Fig. 1, having an incident face ABCD and interface CDFG, and interface PRTV and emergent face QSTV respectively, the two interfaces being in contact with each other and the incident face being parallel to the emergent face. The edges k, k<SP>1</SP>, forming the intersection between the interface and the incident face or the emergent face respectively, are parallel and the optic axis O of prism 1<SP>1</SP> lies in the plane of the incident face and forms an acute angle γ with edge k, whilst the optic axis O<SP>1</SP> of prism 1<SP>11</SP> lies in the plane of the emergent face and forms an angle y Œ 90 degrees with the edge k<SP>1</SP>. Both prisms 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>11</SP> may be of calcite with y = 45 degrees.
