Abstract

1,136,894. Lubricants. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 2 March, 1966 [4 March, 1965], No. 9139/66. Heading C5F. A lubricant comprises a lubricating and a basic lead salt of an organic acid where the basicity of the salt is at least 20 %, the oil contains not more than 10 wt. per cent of lead and the organic acid is one or more naphthenic acids, one or more saturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acids in which the carboxyl groups are attached to tertiary or quaternary carbon atoms, or mixtures thereof (examples being given). The lubricating oil may be mineral or synthetic. The composition may also contain sulphurized sperm oil, dibenzyl sulphide, chlorinated paraffin wax, chlorinated kerosene, polybutenes, alkylphenols and dialkyl silicones. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,025,137.
