Abstract

1,133,165. Spray carburetters. BRITISH MOTOR CORP. Sept. 18, 1967 [Oct. 19, 1966], No. 46710/66. Heading F1B. In a carburetter having a metering jet 4 controlled by a suction actuated piston 5 which restricts the air flow through the main air passage 2, the float chamber 11 communicates with the main air passage at the restriction provided by the piston 5 or between the restriction and the throttle valve 9 via a restrictor 15. The depression occurring in the free space 17 is controlled by an air-bleed jet 19 regulated automatically by a device 21 responsive to changes in atmospheric pressure and ambient air temperature. The device 21 is a partially evacuated capsule, e.g. filled with dry nitrogen. Housing 23 surrounding the capsule receives air from the air cleaner through pipe 24. The capsule return spring 22 may be disposed externally.
