Abstract

1,012,429. Spray carburetters. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE DE BREVETS ET D'ETUDES. June 5, 1964 [June 8, 1963], No. 23356/64. Heading F1B. In a carburetter having a main throttle valve 4 are automatically operated air intake valve 6, and a fuel pump 1 feeding an injector 31 downstream of the valve 4, a fuel metering valve 8 is controlled by the valve 6 and a power control valve 20 upstream of the valve 8 maintains the pressure drop across the orifice 11 and injector orifice 2 proportional to that across the valve 6. The pump 1 delivers into a chamber 18 from which fuel is by-passed back to the constant level chamber 21 through valve 20 which is connected to a diaphragm 24 subject on the lower side to atmospheric pressure through pipe 22 and on the upper side through orifice 26 to the pressure in chamber 9 between the valves 6, 4. The pressure below orifice 2 is maintained atmospheric by air admitted through orifice 32. The flap valve 6 may be replaced by a suction actuated piston or poppet valve.
