Abstract
1,111,625. Spray carburetters. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE DE BREVETS ET D'ETUDES S. I. B. E. Feb. 8, 1967 (March 2, 1966], No. 9176/66. Heading F1B. A fuel air mixture formed in a pipe 19 is fed by a pump 17 through pipes 24 to the air-inlet manifold 12, the fuel being controlled by a valve 25 actuated by a suction-actuated flap 14 in the main air inlet 10 and the suction in pipe 19 being independent of that in the pipe 10. The flow in pipe 10 is controlled by throttle valve 13 and the fuel metering needle 25 is connected to flap 14 by a flexible connection 26. In Fig. 1 the suction in pipe 19 is maintained substantially constant by a suction-actuated piston 27 and in Fig. 3 (not shown) the suction is varied in accordance with the throttle position 13 by a needle valve (34) connected to the throttle 13. Alternatively the needle (34) may control the suction seating on the piston 27 of Fig. 1. In a further modification the valve 27 in pipe 19 is replaced by a fixed restriction. In Fig. 5 the pipe 19 additionally contains a piston 45 increasing the suction, and hence the fuel supply, on acceleration.
