Abstract
1384955 I C engine intake passages; fuel injection REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 16 March 1972 119 March 1971 27 Jan 1972] 12438/72 Heading F1B Metered quantities of liquid fuel are introduced into a sonic velocity air flow in the throat of a Venturi 3, the outlet of the Venturi being arranged in the throat region of a second Venturi 1. In the illustrated embodiment, fuel from an injector 4 flows through a streamlined support arm 13 of the Venturi support sleeve 11 to diametrically opposed orifices 12. A throttle valve may be provided upstream or downstream, Fig. I (not shown), of the Venturis 1 and 3 and a fuel injector (8) for idling and low load fuel supply may be located downstream of the throttle valve. The throttle valve may be a butterfly or slide valve or throttling may be provided by a variable throat Venturi. Two or more pairs of Venturis may be provided in a common induction pipe.
