Abstract

1,129,968. PH measuring apparatus. W. MOLLER and E. MOLLER. Oct. 13, 1965 [Oct. 14, 1964], No.43402/65. Heading G1N. A cell assembly, for measuring PH of a solution, includes an indicator electrode, an internal reference electrode and a reference electrode, either or both of which are of the calomel type, together with a temperature sensitive resistor embedded in a part of the assembly which is below the level of the surface of the solution. In one embodiment Fig. 1 (not shown) an internal reference electrode includes a chamber containing mercury and calomel with a platinum wire sealed into the bottom of the chamber and a temperature sensitive resistor in a helical configuration embedded in the chamber wall. The electrode is immersed in potassium chloride solution in a glass electrode. In Fig. 2 a finger 14 extends from a closure 13 into the thin glass bulb 17 of a glass electrode. A calomel internal reference electrode member 15 is wound helically around the finger and the temperature sensitive resistor is embedded within it. The assembly shown in Fig. 3 has a reference electrode 31, internal reference electrode 33 and temperature sensitive resistor 34 embedded in the outer wall 28. The temperature sensitive resistor may have a negative temperature co-efficient.
