Abstract
Flat leather pieces are dried on panels 14 in apparatus comprising vacuum chambers 11 arranged in series through which the leather is guided in steps by a pair of endless conveyer chains 19 moving about reversal rollers 20', 20" to which chains the axles of rollers 15 on the panels are secured. Both rollers 15 and rollers 16 of the panels run on upper and lower guide rails 17, 18 respectively, means being provided so that the panels are not inverted at the reversal points and only a single loading and unloading station is necessary. The upper guide rails 17 have slot guides 21 in which the rollers 16 are guided to the lower rails 18 while the rollers 15 are transferred at the roller 20". Before the vacuum driers at the <PICT:1122548/C6-C7/1> <PICT:1122548/C6-C7/2> charging station the rails 17, 18 are connected by hinged deflectors 22 under which the rollers 16 are pushed during the lower, cooling run and after reversal of movement of the rollers 15 about the rollers 20', travel up the deflector on to the upper rail 17.
