Abstract
1,121,483. Delivering sheets. GEVAERT-AGFA N.V. 20 Sept., 1965 [22 March 1965], No. 39950/65. Heading B6H. [Also in Division G2] Two contacting sheets, the leading edge of one of which is slightly in advance of the other, are separated by gripping the advanced edge and then imparting to the assembly a thrust which causes the other sheet to separate from the gripped sheet and take a different direction. As shown, the exposed light-sensitive sheet 14 is introduced into the processing apparatus through an upper channel, where it is contacted by a roller 11 wetted with processing liquid. The image-receiving sheet 15 enters through a lower channel, and does not come into contact with sheet 14 until the two pass together between pressure rollers 13, where the image transfer is effected. If the leading edges of sheets are level when they enter the apparatus, the leading edge of top sheet 14 will be in advance of that of bottom sheet 15 when they reach rollers 13, since sheet 15 has taken a longer passage through the apparatus. From rollers 13 the two sheets pass, in contact, between guide plates 16 which can pivot downwards about a point 17 under the action of a solenoid 18. Beyond guides 16 is a further pair of rollers 19, and as the leading edge of top sheet 14 passes between these, it trips a microswitch 20 which closes the energizing circuit of solenoid 18, which pivots the guides 16 down into the position of Fig. 2 (not shown). This imparts a sharp bend to top sheet 14 which lower sheet 15 is unable to follow, its leading edge still being free. Thus the lower sheet separates away from the top sheet, and continues forward in its own plane to pass between guides 23.
