Abstract
993,446. Liquid development process. KALLE A.G. June 14,1963 [June 22,1962], No. 23842/63. Headings G2A and G2H. A process for the development of latent electrostatic images comprises traversing a sheet containing a latent electrostatic image across a rotatable roller carrying a surface film of developing liquid, the sheet being presented to the roller in the direction of a chord of the roller and being deflected in the direction of a tangent to the roller and then being guided by a support in the tangential path. As shown, a sheet is fed by rollers 5 over a wetting roller 13, to wet the back of the sheet, and then to a roller 1, having a film of developer thereon, so as to strike the roller along a line 16. The roller deflects the sheet along the tangential line 16a and the surface of the sheet is brought into contact with the developer. The angle # between the lines 16 and 16a may be 0. 5 degrees to 45 degrees. The feeding of the sheet along the line 16a may be continued by an edge 10 of a support 8. If the edge 10 is situated closer to the roller the sheet may be deflected along a line 9 making an angle α. If 0.1 degrees to 5 degrees, with the line 16a. The fixed support 8 may be replaced by a roller, Fig. 3 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 5, the sheet may be fed to a roller 30 which is lifted from a seating 37b on a hopper 38, holding developer, by the sheet. The roller 34 may be replaced by a roller of small diameter Fig. 6 (not shown).
