Abstract

1,119,211. Tanker carrying liquefied gases. ESSO RESEARCH & ENG. CO. 14 Sept., 1965 [24 Dec., 1964], No. 39241/65. Heading B7A. [Also in Division F4] In a tanker having a cargo hold 14 of predetermined shape and an insulated container 10 for liquefied gases maintained at atmospheric pressure and cryogenic temperature mounted within the hold, the container 10 includes a primary or inner tank 15 spaced from a secondary or outer tank 16 by good thermal conducting members 17 and the outer tank 16 is substantially enveloped by an exterior thermal insulation layer 19. The insulated double walled container and its substantially enveloping insulation are supported as a unit within the cargo hold by wooden blocks 23. Apertures (22), Fig. 2 (not shown) in the spacing members 17 permit circulation of inert gas between the two walls of the container.
