Abstract

[Also in Divisions F2 and F4] A wall 2 of a tank for liquefied gas in a ship or stationary structure is thermally insulated by a plurality of flexible walled bags 6 containing perlite and stacked against the ship's hull 4 (or concrete wall) to completely or partially fill the space between the two walls 2 and 4. The bags are approximately parallelepiped in shape and are secured to the wall 4 by flexible straps 8 or by rigid or flexible tie rods 9 with a retaining plate 10 or flange. The spaces between the edges of the bags and/or the space between the bags and the wall 2 are filled with rock wool. The insulation may support flexible walled tanks.
