[Also in Division B8] In a chair having a pedal operated hydraulic or pneumatic raising and lowering mechanism, in which depression of the pedal 11, beyond the range of its pump operating stroke a, opens a valve to lower the chair, a foot piece 14 has an extension, acting as a stop, to prevent the pedal from being inadvertently moved into the valve opening position. To open the valve, the operator's foot is transferred to bar 12, which is free independently to slide downwardly, along the stem 13, of the stationary foot piece 14.
